North London Optimist Community Centre ~ Thursday Evenings 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Our Mission: The London ESL For Success free study program is open to all newcomers regardless of immigration status. In order to provide our students with a practical and engaging ESL classroom experience, we have designed specially-tailored activities for those who wish to further develop the four essential components of language-based communication: reading, writing, speaking and listening. With the application of resources from the British Council: Learn English website, the Government of Canada LINC program, and the Ontario Ministry of Education ESL guidelines, we provide language training classes and settlement services referral to assist adult newcomers to attain the English language proficiency needed to fully participate and succeed in their new Canadian home community and economy.
A major goal for English language learners includes a reminder that students should still value and maintain their own linguistic and cultural identities so that they can enter the larger society as bilingual and bicultural individuals.
